LinkedIn Banner Strategy: Making the Perfect Banner for Maximum Impact!

LinkedIn is a social media site that has over 740 million users in more than 200 countries and territories across the globe, LinkedIn is a place where professionals from every industry come to network. Today I will give you some tips on making the perfect banner for maximum impact! The way to accomplish this is by having a strategy in place that takes everything about your brand and couples it with who you are seeking to connect with.

“There are three key differences when looking at entrepreneurs that operate tactically vs strategically. The entrepreneur that possesses a clear, concise and actionable strategy will have more impact, better execution and a larger bank account.” CJ McDonald, Personal & Professional Mentor for Aspiring Women Entrepreneurs

When designing your banner, the first thing you must do is choose a background color or image that will stand out in a sea of banners. Remember, people will see this when they visit your page, so it needs to be memorable and have high contrast against other banners. You can also use text colors easily on the eye, such as light blue or dark green. To create an effective banner, you need to be able to capture the attention of your target audience members immediately.

What is a LinkedIn Banner, and Why Should You Care About It?

A LinkedIn banner is the large image that appears at the top of your LinkedIn profile. Your banner can reinforce what the company is about and visually support the written portions of the business profile. The banner image should communicate your value, skills, and professional identity. Businesses can create a great impression and increase branding with the right visuals and text.

When creating a LinkedIn banner, it’s essential to keep in mind what you want to achieve with it. Common goals include increasing brand awareness, connecting with clients, and marketing your skills. The banner should be designed with these objectives in mind and tailored to fit your specific business.

How to Create the Perfect Banner for Maximum Impact

When it comes to creating a banner for your LinkedIn profile, it’s essential to make sure you stand out from the competition. You want an eye-catching and creative and that will connect with your ideal client or recruiter. Remember that people’s eyes are drawn to colors, images, and shapes. Keep your perfect client in mind and what they expect from doing business with you.

It’s essential to keep your buyer’s journey in mind as well. The buyer’s journey is the process that a customer goes through when considering making a purchase. There are three stages in the buyer’s journey: awareness, consideration, and decision. Your banner should be designed to appeal to customers at each step of the buyer’s journey.

Tips on Where to Find Inspiration for Your Design

Don’t worry; there are many ways to find inspiration for your banner! Browse through galleries on personal branding sites like Behance or Dribbble. Search for banners in the “graphic” category and browse the designs that catch your attention. Download the photos and use them in your project in Canva.

You can turn to LinkedIn professional sites in your industry to see what others are doing. Please don’t take their designs, but draw their inspiration to create your own. I already mentioned Canva, but there are others. A shortlist of other online banner creation sites should also include Visme and Edit.org.

Choosing Colors

A common mistake that people make is thinking they should choose colors to stand out and be accessible to the eye, but in reality, it’s more important to choose colors that represent who you are. I would suggest starting by picking colors that you naturally find yourself drawn to or asking friends or family what colors remind them of you. You could also start by thinking about the colors you often wear, use your decoration, or even use your personal branding messaging.

Aside from determining your colors, your colors must reflect who your ideal client expects from you. I recently discussed branded colors with a gentleman in professional finance. Being very conservative by nature and design, we need to look at colors that spoke to him and be conservative to connect with his clients. People derive meaning and feelings from colors, and selecting the right color combinations will help you choose your LinkedIn banner.

Why Do Banners With Text Work Better Than Those Without Text?

Regarding LinkedIn banners, text overlays work better than those without any text. The text stands out in the image due to the simple background. Using a number in the text overlay also helps capture users’ attention.

Text overlays are an effective way to communicate your message to viewers. They allow you to quickly and easily share your brand’s values, mission, or services. Additionally, text overlays can help personalize your profile and make it more memorable. When designing your text overlay, be sure to use a font that is easy to read and keep the copy concise.

In the digital age, personal branding is more important than ever. This means that your LinkedIn banner should be a powerful personal statement of who you are and what you do. The beauty of using an image for your personal brand’s LinkedIn banner is that it can capture users’ attention first. Text overlays on top of images typically get read first by viewers because they stand out in a simple background, while text alone will blend into any background color or texture. With this in mind, I recommend adding some text to your photo’s overlay so that it stands out from the rest of the content on LinkedIn! In addition to choosing colors wisely and selecting a messaging strategy with care, there are other factors worth considering when designing your personal brand’s LinkedIn banner.
